Acute hepatitis post arteriovenous graft thrombectomy of hemodialysis vascular access
J Vasc Access. 2021 Jun 12:1129729821998849. doi: 10.1177/1129729821998849. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe following paper reports the case of a woman on in-center hemodialysis through an arteriovenous graft, who attended with an acute vascular access thrombosis. Post percutaneous thrombectomy, the patient presented a rare case of self-limited acute hepatitis secondary to the revascularization procedure. We explain the probable trigger for this complication, its pathophysiology, management, and evolution.PMID:34121498 | DOI:10.1177/1129729821998849

O impacto da hepatite C em Portugal
Conclusions In Portugal, the annual costs associated to hepatitis C are about 71 million euros of which approximately 83% (60 million euros) being due to complications of disease and liver transplant, often required in the treatment of these complications. The results of this study support that, from a society's perspective, VHC infection is a disease with a considerable economic burden, which therefore justifies the conduction of a national screening and prevention program directed to hepatitis C, which would reinforce the relevance of its treatment.

Clinical and histological features of patients with membranoproliferative glomerulonephritis classified by immunofluorescence findings.
CONCLUSIONS: The only difference between the groups was higher vascular involvement in renal biopsy in negative immunofluorescence group. These new classification was satisfactory for the finding of etiology in one part of the cases. PMID: 29319772 [PubMed - in process]

Deep venous thrombosis and chikungunya virus

Brazilian Chronic Dialysis Survey 2016.
CONCLUSION: The absolute number and the prevalence and incidence rates of patients on dialysis continue to rise steadily; the gross mortality rate remained stable. Regional inequities are evident in these rates. PMID: 29044335 [PubMed - in process]

Será uma refeição ligeira fator de erro na avaliação da dureza hepática por elastografia hepática transitória? Um estudo prospetivo
Conclusion In our study, a meal altered LS value in chronic hepatitis B without suspected fibrosis (low LS). As it does not seem to interfere significantly with the clinical management of our patients, we can not, at this point, make any suggestion about the usefulness of performing this exam in the fasting condition.

Púrpura trombocitopénica imune e doença celíaca: acaso?
We report a case of a 24‐years‐old woman with celiac disease since childhood, which developed immune thrombocytopenic purpura with the reintroduction of a gluten diet. We propose that the coexistence of these two disorders suggests a common immune mechanism.

Infection, Infectious Agents and Vascular Disease
CONCLUSION: Infectious agents may affect vessel's homeostasis and functionality, both on the arterial and venous side, by means of several pathophysiological mechanisms such as dysregulation in vasomotor function, thromboembolic complications, initiation and progression of atherosclerosis, alteration of perivascular adipose tissue, recruiting inflammatory cells and molecules.PMID:33823769 | DOI:10.2174/1574887116666210325124045
